The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the winners of the Week 7 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards. Mohamed Ndiaye of the St. Louis Ambush earns offensive honor while teammate Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes earns the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Mohamed Ndiaye had two goals and three assists in St. Louis' 6-5 win over Kansas City Friday. Ndiaye scored the game-tying goal and then 49 seconds later he added an assist on the game-winning goal with 1:28 left in the fourth quarter. He also scored a goal in the team's 10-7 win over Chihuahua.
Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes earns the defensive honors for his first week with the St. Louis Ambush. Cortes was signed on Friday ahead of the weekend home stand. Cortes factored big in St. Louis' two victories. In Friday's 6-5 win over Kansas City, which snapped the Comets' six-game win streak, Cortes recorded 23 saves. On Sunday, he stopped 15 Savage shots to pick up the second win of the weekend, his fourth of the season.
