It was a week consisting of just two games, but there was no shortage of great performances worthy of being named to the MASL Week 3 Team of the Week.

There was no performance better than in goal for the Florida Tropics. Hugo Silva stopped 16 shots from the Dallas Sidekicks en route to a rare MASL shut out by blanking the visiting team 8-0.

He was assisted by the current League leader in assists, midfielder Victor Parreiras. Parreiras was credited with assists on half of Florida’s goals in the effort. His four assists raised his season total to seven.

The second game Saturday night resulted in two players from each squad being named to the Team of the Week following the St. Louis Ambush’s 7-6 come from behind win over the Kansas City Comets.

From the Ambush, midfielder Lucas Almeida notched a second quarter goal and then with 1:19 left in the fourth quarter, connected with Sam Guernsey to assist on the game winning goal.  Defender Vadim Cojocov netted back-to-back second half goals to bring the Ambush within one goal with 13:14 left to play in the game.

Rian Marques, tied for the Comets team lead in goals, picked up two first half goals in the team’s losing effort in St. Louis. Defender Mirko Sandivari assisted on a pair of goals and scored one of his own and was the top scorer in the match with three points.
