WEEK 18 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

by Jack Williams

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the Week 18 Players of the Week winners.

OFFENSE – Franck Tayou, Utica City FC, in an almost unanimous vote earned the honors. Tayou put up big numbers against the visiting St. Louis Ambush including a double hat trick in Sunday’s game. The Cameroonian forward had 10 points (9G-1A), 2 hat tricks, 1 block through the weekend’s wins.

DEFENSE – Robert Palmer, Kansas City Comets, secured one half of the defensive sweep for player of the week alongside teammate Nicolau Neto. Palmer now leads the league with 86 blocks adding eight in Week 18. That is two more than Uzi Tayou (84) and 15 more than teammate Chad Vandegriffe (61) in third.

GOALKEEPER – Neto, Kansas City Comets, is no stranger to this list. The netminder had 12 saves in a big win against the San Diego Sockers. He is now second in the league in both wins and save percentage.
