WEEK 10 TEAM OF THE WEEK

by Pete Richmire

The Playoff seeding races are heating up and we had a great week of games.  From those we have compiled your Week 10 Team of the Week presented by Ford:

Goalkeeper – Chris Toth, Tacoma Stars

Toth had some incredible saves in both Tacoma games last week beginning with a 6-5 win at Cable Dahmer Arena against the Kansas City Comets. He notched 12 saves in the win and the Stars are the only team to have beaten the Comets in their building and have now done it twice. He followed that game with a 19 save performance against the St. Louis Ambush in a 5-4 overtime loss.

Defender – Maicon De Abreu, Ontario Fury

It was a four-goal week for De Abreu as he netted a pair of goals in both Fury games, their 14-6 win over St. Louis on Friday and their 7-6 loss to the Comets on Sunday.

Defender – Ray Lee, Kansas City Comets

Lee picked up three goals during Week 10. Two came in the team’s 6-5 loss to the Tacoma Stars and he added a goal in the win against the Fury on Sunday.

Midfielder – Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Ontario Fury

Gonzalez had the second highest point total of any player on the Team of the Week with six. He was one of two Ontario players to score a hat trick in the 14-6 win over St. Louis. He added an assist in that game as well, then had two assists in the overtime win over Tacoma.

Midfielder – Justin Stinson, Ontario Fury

Stinson was the other Fury to pick up a hat trick against the Ambush. He also had an assist in that game plus three more assists in the loss to the Comets on Sunday. He topped the Team of the Week with a seven-point week.

Forward – JT Thomas, St. Louis Ambush

Thomas had an incredible final minutes in the Ambush's 5-4 overtime win of the Tacoma Stars on Sunday. With 3:57 left to go in regulation, Thomas found the back of the net for the game-tying goal in a game which ultimately went to overtime. In the extra frame, Thomas sent home a power play goal 1:38 into the OT period to give his team the win and push the Ambush back to .500. Incredible, indeed.
