WAVE WIN BEER BOWL IN NEW YORK SUNDAY

by Van McNeil

After a tumultuous week of trash talking from both sides, the Six-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave and the new Utica City FC, battled it out in front of a sold out crowd at The Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium in Utica, New York Sunday afternoon.

“The defensive effort from our team today was unbelievable,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “Anytime you win away from home it’s a big deal and with the success Utica has been having, this was certainly a game that we had on our radar.”

Milwaukee Wave goals were scored by #8 Luan Oliveria, #24 Max Ferdinand, #99 Andre Hayne, #16 Drew Ruggles, #28 Angel 'Chino' Curiel and #18 Isaac Pereyra.

“I can’t say enough good things,” said Oliviero. “ But if you want to win championships, you need to win on the road, come together as a team and stay focused in moments of adversity. That’s what we did this weekend."

The Wave will now enjoy some down time to celebrate a successful weekend of winning by going from establishment to establishment to lift the ban on ‘Milwaukee’s Best’ beer.

They will also make a special delivery to City of Utica Mayor Robert M. Palmieri before returning to Milwaukee on Monday to get ready for back-to-back home games this Friday and Saturday at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
