WAVE TO FACE RIVAL COMETS FRIDAY FOR GAME 1 OF EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS IN MILWAUKEE
After shocking the MASL and defeating the regular season champion Monterrey Flash last week, the 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave are eager to get to Friday night as they take on their arch rivals the Kansas City Comets for Game One of the MASL Eastern Conference Finals at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
“The guys are locked in like I’ve never seen before,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “The focus they’ve been showing at practice along with an attention to detail tells me that they really want to take care of business at home and have a one game lead going into KC on Monday.”
The Wave and Comets only had one game between them this season, November 26, 2023 at Cable Dahmer Arena where the Comets had their way with Milwaukee, defeating them 9-3.
Since then, both teams have had there up and downs but it has all come together for each in the end. The Wave with a regular season record of 15-7-2, suffered a lot of injuries along the way; some season ending but they were able to rally and take out undefeated Monterrey to get to the conference final.
Meanwhile the Comets with a regular season record of 14-6-4 suffered an 8-game losing streak in the middle of the season and were able to dig out to make their way into the postseason; they are currently on an 8-game winning streak.
“The Comets are the hottest team in the league right now and are doing some really good things,” added Oliviero. “But we feel we’re doing the same; we just need to play our game, focus on our roles and responsibilities and the rest should take care of itself. And then there are our fans that have been there all the way. We expect that they will bring the energy and be loud on Friday night. We’re looking forward to it!”
