Veteran Goalkeeper Sliwa Joins SeaWolves

ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando SeaWolves closed the MASL Live Period free agent window by signing veteran goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa. Sliwa will also perform the dual role of Goalkeeper Coach. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement will not be disclosed.

In his four year MASL career, the Poland-born, American citizen has amassed a 24-36 record with a 7.32 GAA, but has shown steady improvement each year. The 32-year old has been a teammate of recently-signed Gordy Gurson with the Seattle Impact and St. Louis Ambush in the MASL and Rampage United outdoors in the PLA, where he played for SeaWolves General Manager Chris Kokalis.

Sliwa, who has made appearances with the US National Arena Soccer Team, has been the starting goalkeeper the last two years with the Florida Tropics. In his ninth year on the staff at Triton College in Illinois, he serves as the head coach of both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.

“Piotr has a great soccer mind and has been a great resource to bounce ideas off of the last few years,” said Kokalis. “Having him on the roster and on staff is going to be a tremendous asset to the organization.”

“I am happy to be reunited with guys I’ve played with for a long time, and to join a team that’s serious about winning,” said Sliwa.

Sliwa will be on hand at the SeaWolves open tryouts this weekend, May 19 and 20 at XL Soccer World.
