UTICA CITY SIGNS UROS MOMIC

by Lindsay Mogle

Utica, New York (July 26, 2019) – Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner announced today that the club has signed midfielder Uros Momic. Per team and league policies, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Momic, 27, better known as Momo, will make his indoor debut after an extensive outdoor career. He most recently suited up for the Rochester Lancers of the NPSL, scoring five goals in 12 matches.

“We are very excited to be able to sign Momo for this upcoming season,” said General Manager Tommy Tanner. “He is very good technically and has the ability to beat players off the dribble. Momo was able to train with the team for most of last season as he was finishing his degree at Bryant and Stratton and he quickly adjusted to the indoor game. Momo will score goals in this league and I look forward to watching him play.”

“I was able to train with the team all last season while attending college. It gave me time to learn the game, to learn how the coach likes his team to play and to get to know the players,” said Uros. “I’m very grateful that this season I will be able to join the team and play in front of the amazing Utica crowd. I hope that we can take the team even higher than last season.”

Prior to his time with Rochester, the Smederevo, Serbia native played two seasons at Bryant and Stratton College where he tallied 24 goals and 10 assists in 23 career games. He was also named a USCAA Division I All-Americans and USCAA Division I Player of the Year after helping lead the Bobcats to the National Championship game.

Momic also played two seasons at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. where he was named NJCAA Region 19 Player of the Year and NJCAA Third Team All-American in 2016 after tallying 22 goals and seven assists in 14 games.

The 5-11 midfielder has also played for a number of clubs in his native Serbia before coming to North America.
