UTICA CITY FC SIGNS JOEY TAVERNESE

Utica, N.Y. – Utica City FC announced today the signing of Joey Tavernese for the upcoming 2018-19 MASL season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Tavernese tallied 54 points (28-26-54) in 22 games with the Syracuse Silver Knights last season. The Queens, N.Y. native has appeared in 101 games between the MISL and MASL, collecting 106 goals and 77 assists.

He began his professional career in the summer of 2011, playing in 11 games with FC New York of the United Soccer League.

Following his USL stint, Tavernese played one season with Armadale SC, an Australian Club that competes in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. The 5-9, 155-pound forward led Armadale in goals (10) and assists (12) in 20 matches during the 2012 season.

Prior to turning pro, Tavernese played collegiately at Siena College from 2007-2010, appearing in 75 games and registering 11 goals and 17 assists.
