Turlock with a Win in Overtime

(TURLOCK, CA. February 17th, 2017)---  With a  full house at Turlock Indoor and a 5-1 lead at the Half time mark, Turlock Express (7-11) thought the remainder of the match would be an easy sail against new MASL team El Paso Coyotes (0-17) who visited Northern California for the second time this season. The tables turned however in the final two quarters. The Coyotes came out with an equalizer at 3:04 in the 4th quarter pushing the game to Overtime. The man of the night was Turlock Express Midfielder, Matthew Germain who finalized the match with a header that gave Turlock a 9-8 victory.

El Paso came out strong and dominated the opening quarter with the only goal in the period scored by Omar Ledezma in favor of the Coyotes. Turlock made sure to gain possession in the 2nd quarter and did exactly that adding 5 goals to the scoreboard.

Adrian Pulido had the first goal of the night for Express followed by Jorge Carmona with his 11th goal of the season.

Jesus Belmonte had his first season goal tonight with an amazing upper 90 shot that gave Turlock a 3-1 lead. The well known Express player Ivan Campos was able to score twice before the time ran out in the 2nd quarter making it a 5-1 game.

The third and fourth quarter had Express fans on the edge of their seats as the Coyotes had an unbelievable comeback. 5 goals in the 3rd quarter were made by Coyote players Omar Ledezma, Robert Garcia, Daniel Frias, Bronil Koochoie, and Louie Herrera. Turlock was only able to capitalize on two plays with goal by Ivan Campos and Martyn Arista.

Omar Ledezma came back for a hat trick in the 4th quarter with the equalizer at 3:04. With the time set at 10 minutes for Overtime, Turlock planned out a play in hopes of taking the win at home. El Paso turned to their offense in hopes of leaving Turlock with their first win in the Major Arena Soccer League. Matthew Germain however shattered that possibility for the Coyotes with the golden goal at 7:46  in overtime.

Turlock is now preparing for the arrival of Atletico Baja on February 24th for a revenge match as Turlock lost their last encounter  in overtime.
