Tropics top Ambush

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Tropics SC got two goals each from Ricardo Diegues, Antonio Manfut and Victor Parreiras to down the St. Louis Ambush, 9-7, in a Major Arena Soccer League Game Saturday night at the RP Funding Center.

Florida held a 6-5 lead after a wild first two quarters, and St. Louis rallied to tie it 7-7 early in the fourth on Zach Reget's 15th goals of the season, but Victor Parrerias got a restart goal from the top of the arc, and a shootout goal in the final quarter to provide the final margin of victory.

Guilherme also got his 15th of the season for Florida, but suffered what appeared to be a major knee injury late in the first half, and did not return. Florida also got goals from Andre Braithwaite and Phibo Arriaga, who just signed this week with the Tropics.

St. Louis also got scores from Stefan St. Louis, Clayton Matheius, Magui Souza, Justin Stinson, Pepe Juniquera, and Lucas Almeida.

The Tropics snapped a four-game win streak, and moved to 4-7 on the season, but only 1.5 games out of a playoff spot in the South Central Division. St. Louis fell to 6-7.

The two teams will tangle again next Friday in St. Louis (7:35 CST) and the Tropics will then have a 1:05 kickoff Saturday afternoon in Kansas City. Both games will be live at MASL.tv. They will not return home until Saturday, Feb. 16 when they host the Orlando SeaWolves. For more information, go to www.fltropics.com.
