TRADE: Florida Tropics, St Louis Ambush Swap Forwards
KANSAS CITY (Oct. 15, 2019) - The Florida Tropics and St Louis Ambush have announced a trade today that will see the two teams trading forwards ahead of the 2019-2020 season. The Tropics will be adding Zach Reget while Andre Braithwaite will be joining the Ambush. Per league and team policies, no further details of the trade were released.
Braithwaite comes to the Ambush with four seasons of professional indoor soccer experience. Braithwaite played two seasons with the Missouri Comets (2013-15) and one with the Kansas City Comets (2017-18), before splitting the 2018-19 season between the Florida Tropics and Utica City FC.
The 28-year-old native of Kingston, Jamaica has played forward and defender in his 62 game professional indoor soccer career. Braithwaite has appeared in 62 games, compiling 39 goals, 15 assists and 13 blocked shots.
Reget was part of the Ambush reserve team in 2017-18 and did not appear in a game but burst on the scene last season with 22 goals and 10 assists, to go along with 12 blocked shots. He enjoyed a stellar career at Trinity University before landing with the Ambush, was also named to the All-MASL Newcomers team for 2018-19. He is the second former Rookie-of- the-Year honoree signed by Florida this summer. Gordy Gurson, who banged in 34 goals (fifth in the MASL last season) and added 24 assists for the Orlando SeaWolves last year, earned the honor at the end of the 2014- 15 season, and signed with the Tropics in the offseason.
Reget is a native of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He played collegiate soccer at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, where he was a four year starter, NCCAA All- American, four ti CCAC All- Region Team, two time CCAC first team selection, NCCAA All- Midwest Region first team, Team Captain, four time Offensive Player of the Year, three time Trinity MVP and third on the list of all-time goal scorers.
The Major Arena Soccer League begins the 2019-2020 campaign on Nov. 22 with five games in three countries. The Florida Tropics will be part of the opening night festivities when they kick-off at the Orlando SeaWolves on Nov 22, while the St Louis Ambush will open the next week when they visit the defending champion Milwaukee Wave on Nov 29.
