Syracuse Defeats Milwaukee

Syracuse’s penchant for playing close games continued, this time with the Silver Knights winning a tight one over the Milwaukee Wave on Saturday night, 4-3.

The match was close from the opening kick to the last. Neither team led by more than a goal until the fourth quarter. It was tied after the first quarter, 1-1, tied at the half, 2-2. Not until Kenardo Forbes took a pass from Slavisa Ubiparipovic off a set-piece and blasted home did one teams lead at the end a quarter.

The fourth quarter saw both teams actively attacking, with Syracuse’s Patrick Thompson hitting the inside of far post with just under 10 minutes left. Syracuse went on the power play with just under eight minutes remaining in the fourth. And once again, Kendardo Forbes made the difference, blasting from 20 yards into upper corner, far post. The power-play goal put Syracuse up two.

Milwaukee responded with its own power-play goal just a few minutes later, keeping the game tight and setting up a dramatic finish.
