SWEETHEART OF A GAME: ST. LOUIS AMBUSH WIN 7-3 ON THE ROAD
Towson, Maryland (February 14, 2026) – Playing on theroad on Valentine’s Day, the St. Louis Ambush posted a sweetheart of a game, defeating the Baltimore Blast 7-3 at the SECU Arena in Towson, Maryland. The win improved St. Louis to 8-3-3 on the season, while Baltimore dropped to 5-4-2.
St. Louis drew first blood in the third minute of the first quarter when Riley Urie caught a ball coming off the board and pounded it into the net. It would be the lone goal in the opening frame, giving the visiting Ambush a 1-0 lead.
The Ambush went up 2-0 at the 23 second mark of the second period when Mario Falsone sent a pass off the board to a charging William Eskay, who put it on target. Baltimore cut the lead in half in the third minute when Kevaugh Frater got off a shot that St. Louis goalkeeper Paulo Nascimento couldn’t corral. St. Louis answered in the fifth minute when Randy Martinez scored with Falsone getting his second assist. In the thirteenth minute, Jeff Michaud gave the Ambush a 4-1 lead when he stole an errant pass from a Blast player and got off a long shot that eluded Baltimore goalkeeper Julian Rodriguez. The visitors enjoyed a three-goal lead at halftime.
St. Louis got an unfortunate break in the second minute of the third quarter when Baltimore’s Jonatas Melo took a shot that Michaud tried to block but the ball deflected off Michaud’s foot and into the net, making it a 4-2 match. An unusual situation occurred in the ninth minute that saw Baltimore’s starting and backup goalkeepers both in the penalty box. Rodriguez was first after being penalized for a handball outside the box. Backup keeper Jorge Navarette then came in to face Michaud’s penalty kick. Navarette charged out, tripped Michaud, earned a blue card and was sent off. Jake Schindler then came off the bench, donned the sixth attacker jersey, and gave up a penalty kick to James Thomas, making it a 5-2 duel. With one second remaining in the period, Ozzy Santana scored off a long shot from near midfield, giving St. Louis a 6-2 lead heading into the final stanza.
In the second minute of the fourth quarter, Schindler scored with a shot over Nascimento’s head to trim the Ambush lead to 6-3. With 6:13 left on the clock, Melo assumed sixth attacker duty for the Blast. That advantage was short-lived, however, as Juan Pereira earned a blue card for contact above the shoulder. The Ambush went up 7-3 in the thirteenth minute when Martinez tallied his second of the contest off a pass from Daniel Torrealba. With 1:50 left on the clock, Nascimento took a ball to the face, resulting in a bloody nose. He came out of the game and was replaced between the pipes by Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes. Cortes and the Ambush defense held on for the win.
