STRYKERS APPOINT ROBERT PALMER HEAD COACH

Former captain and longtime MASL standout officially takes charge of Empire’s men’s first team

Ontario, Calif. — The Empire Strykers are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Palmer as Head Coach of the men’s first team.

Palmer, one of the most respected defenders in Major Arena Soccer League history, has been a central figure for the club as both a player and captain. After stepping into a player-coach role late last season, Palmer helped lead the Strykers through a strong late-season resurgence and into the Ron Newman Cup Playoffs.

“Berto represents so much of what we want the Empire Strykers to be,” said Managing Partner Jeff Burum. “He is a proven leader, a fierce competitor, and someone who understands the standard this club expects on and off the field. We saw the response from the group when he stepped into the role, and we believe he is the right person to continue building this team forward.”

A former MASL Defender of the Year and one of the league’s most accomplished players, Palmer brings championship experience, tactical understanding, and a deep connection to the Strykers locker room. His transition from player and captain to Head Coach marks an important new chapter for both Palmer and the organization. Palmer will also be evaluating and assembling his coaching staff, including identifying assistant coaches for the upcoming season to help with his role as being a player coach for at least the upcoming 2026-27 season.

“This club means a lot to me,” said Palmer. “I’m grateful for the trust the organization has placed in me, and I’m excited for the opportunity to lead this group. We have a talented team, a passionate fan base, and a region behind us that deserves a winning product. My focus is on building the right culture, holding our standards high, and pushing this club toward the success we all expect.”

The Empire Strykers will continue preparations for the upcoming MASL season with Palmer officially leading the men’s first team.
