STARS HOST MILWAUKEE WAVE TOMORROW AT 5:05 PM
TACOMA, WA. – It’s a big week of home games for the Tacoma Stars (7-5-1) at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent. Tomorrow, the first-place Milwaukee Wave (9-3-2) will make their only regular-season appearance followed by a visit from the San Diego Sockers (8-4-1) next Saturday, February 21 at 6:05 pm. Tomorrow’s game will kick off at 5:05 pm with the arena doors opening at 4 pm.
The Wave overtook Kansas City for the league’s top spot last week with a 10-6 home win over the Comets. It is the first time this season any team other than Kansas City has sat atop the table.
Milwaukee enters this game on a three-game winning streak while Tacoma dropped their last contest, an 8-5 loss at St. Louis on February 7. The Stars and Wave will meet again on March 8 at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Wisconsin.
On the line for Tacoma is the best home winning percentage in the MASL this season with a 7-1-0 record at the accesso ShoWare Center. Milwaukee is 5-1-0 on the black turf at home, but 4-2-2 on the road.
Key players to watch from the Wave will be Alex Sanchez, currently leading the MASL with 22 goals, and Mario Alvarez on top the leaderboard with 14 assists.
The Stars are led offensively by Jamael Cox with 16 points. He also leads the team with 10 goals and team captain Alex Caceres’ eight assists it the tops for Tacoma.
Tomorrow’s contest could easily come down to goalkeeping, and both teams are solid in net. Tacoma’s Luis Birrueta (142) and William Banahene (143) are top three in the league in saves, with Birrueta having a better save percentage.
