STARS HOST FLASH SATURDAY NIGHT FOR TEDDY BEAR TOSS GAME

KENT, WA. - The Tacoma Stars (1-0-0) and Monterrey Flash (0-1-0) will meet for the first time since January 24, 2020 when the Stars last hosted the Flash at the accesso ShoWare Center with Monterrey riding a 13-game win streak. Mike Ramos’ four points (2G-2A) and three from Nick Perera (1G-2A) led the Stars to a 7-6 win on that Friday night. Edgar Flores set the pace for the Flash with a 5-point game (3G-2A). All three of those players will be with their respective teams this Saturday night when the Stars open their home schedule with their annual Teddy Bear Toss game to benefit Toys-For-Tots.

The teams played distinctly different games in their season-openers with the Stars beating Empire 7-5 and the Flash losing to Mesquite in a game that saw only three goals scored with a 2-1 final.

In Tacoma’s win, Jamael Cox notched the Stars’ first hat trick of the campaign with one goal coming on the power-play. The Stars were 3-for-3 with the man advantage on the night. Mike Ramos led all scorers with a pair of goals and assists in the win for the Stars. Nick Perera picked up the game-winning goal on an assist from Ramos with 2:19 left in the 3rd quarter.

Danny Waltman stopped 16 shots en route to his 75th career MASL regular season win. His expected counterpart, Diego Reynoso is five wins ahead of him on the all-time wins list, though Reynoso recorded just nine saves while allowing just two goals in his team’s loss last Saturday.

Offensively, the Flash got off to a slow start with only Edgar Flores (1G-0A) and Brayan Aguilar (0G-1A) picking up points against Mesquite. Both the Flash and Outlaws mark their return to action this season after missing the last two due to COVID-related issues.

After this game, the Flash will return to the accesso ShoWare Center on February 4, 2023 with the Stars playing in Monterrey on January 22 and March 12, 2023.

Tickets to this, and all Stars home games can be purchased at www.tacomastars.com/tickets. Game time is 7:05 pm on December 10.
