TACOMA, WA. –  This Saturday is game number two for the Stars (0-1-0) and round two of the six-game season series against San Diego (1-0-0) following the 11-6 Sockers win in Southern California last Sunday. This weekend’s game will be the home opener for the Stars and is the team’s annual Night of Giving featuring a Toy Drive and the Teddy Bear Toss for Toys-for-Tots.

The first meeting was a closely contested game until the Sockers pulled away with a string of five unanswered goals in the 3rd and 4th quarters. To that point, the Sockers’ largest lead was two goals and the Stars cut it to just one on four occasions.

The game on Sunday will feature Ceremonial First Kicks by the Mayor Kent, Dana Ralph as well as the Stars newly named Brand Ambassador and Seattle Seahawks legend Marcus Trufant, a native of Tacoma.

The Stars announced the return of midfielder Raphael Cox to the team, and he is expected to be available for Saturday’s game. Cox has appeared in 86 games for Tacoma and has 45 goals and 22 assists to his credit.

It will be a special night for Stars and Seattle Sounders FC fans alike as Román Torres makes his home debut for Tacoma. Torres, a Panamanian National Team hero, famously converted on the game-winning penalty kick which sealed the Sounders FC first MLS Cup victory.

The Stars are back in action next weekend at the accesso ShoWare Center when the Baltimore Blast make their only appearance this season. Game time on Sunday, December 17 is 5:05 pm. Tickets are available here –
