St. Charles, Missouri (October 27, 2026) – The St. Louis Ambush have re-signed goalkeeper Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes for the 2026-27 season, the team announced today.

The 2026-27 season is Cortes’ seventh in the Major Arena Soccer League and his fourth with the Ambush. He has also played with the Mesquite/Texas Outlaws and San Diego Sockers.

In four appearances for the Ambush last season, Cortes compiled a 2-0 record with a 4.76 goals against average and a .714 save percentage. He also shined in the playoffs, compiling a 1-1 record with a 6.15 goals against average and a .778 save percentage. His playoff win came on the road on April 6 in the quarterfinals against the Kansas City Comets.

Cortes was born in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico and calls Dallas, Texas home. In addition to his MASL career, Cortes has played with the North Texas Soccer Club (USL League 1), was signed by FC Dallas in 2017 and had a stint with Saint Louis FC (USL) in 2016. Prior to turning pro, Cortes played collegiate soccer at Indiana University and Purdue University Indianapolis and club soccer with the FC Dallas Academy.

Ambush Hea Coach Jeff Locker said “Pollo is an important part of our team’s makeup. Along with Paulo Nascimento, Pollo gives us two starting quality goalkeepers, making out team more competitive regardless of the opponent. We’re very pleased to get this deal done and have Pollo back for another season.”

The Ambush will kick off their 14th season at The Family Arena on Black Friday, November 27. When the Ambush return to action, they will resume their quest for the Ron Newman Cup, following a 2025-26 season where they made it to the semifinals.

Season and single-game tickets for the 2026-27 regular season are now on sale. Fans can stay current on all Ambush news by visiting the team’s official website, stlambush.com, on social media outlets or by emailing the Ambush at info@stlambush.com.
