ST. LOUIS AMBUSH DEFEAT MILWAUKEE WAVE 10-4

St. Charles, MO. – The St. Louis Ambush scored the first goal and never relinquished the lead in their battle against the Milwaukee Wave Sunday at The Family Arena. The 10-4 win improved the Ambush to 6-11-1, while Milwaukee dropped to 11-6-1.

St. Louis drew first blood in the sixth minute of the first quarter when Dom Alvarado sent a long pass to a charging Will Eskay, who buried a shot in the low corner of the goal. The Ambush scored their second goal in the second minute of the second period when Kevin Ellis passed to Robert Kristo, who sent the ball back to Ellis, who scored. Milwaukee got their first tally when Salvador Nunez found the back of the net in the sixth minute of the period. Nearly three minutes later, Lucas Almeida pounded the ball into the wall, followed the rebound, and got off an accurate shot to make it 3-1. In the twelfth minute, former Ambush player Qudus Lawal scored for the Wave. Kristo answered for the Ambush in the twelfth minute when Milwaukee goalkeeper William Banahene was out of position after making a save, giving St. Louis a 4-2 lead. Less than a minute later, Lawal notched his second of the contest, for a 4-3 score at halftime.

St. Louis made it 6-3 with the only goals of the third frame. James Thomas scored (fifth minute) in his first game back after a long layoff recovering from surgery, followed by Almeida’s second goal of the duel (seventh minute).

The fourth quarter was scoreless until the seventh minute, when Milwaukee’s Alex Bradley took a shot that hit the far post and angled into the net to make it 6-4. The Ambush went on a power play in the ninth minute when Milwaukee was called for too many men on the field. They made good on the opportunity 32 seconds later when Thomas scored his second of the match, giving St. Louis a three-goal lead (7-4). St. Louis got another power play when Milwaukee’s Shawn Azcueta was sent to the sin bin for tripping in the tenth minute of the quarter.
