El Paso, Texas (Jan. 6, 2017) -  The new-look El Paso Coyotes were defeated, at home, 15-6 by the league-leading Sonora Soles in an action packed Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) game at the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas.

The Coyotes now fall to 0-10 as they now try to adjust under the leadership of new head coach Jose Luis Trevino. Trevino was on the Soles coaching staff last year when they were runner up champions. He looks to turn around the struggling Coyotes as they have yet to win a single game in their inaugural season. The Soles extend their league-leading record to 8-1 and their league-leading win streak to eight. There were three players with hat tricks in tonight’s game.

Rookie Coyotes’ forward David Salas had a hat-trick (3 goals) and accounted for half of the Coyotes’ goals. Six other Coyote players contributed points (goals or assists). Both forward superstar Franck “The King” Tayou, and forward Enrique Canez had hat-tricks of their own; each scoring three goals themselves. After tonight’s game Tayou climbs back atop the league in points (39) and goals (31) and remains number one in goals per game (4.33)

Today’s game embarked much change as the Coyotes’ played for the first time with four new players: goalkeeper Hector Casillas, midfielder Bronil Koochoie, midfielder Mario Arrieta, and forward Robert Garcia. All the new players, excluding Mario Arrieta, have MASL experience, most notably with the Las Vegas Legends.

Friday’s matchup was the third of four meetings between the two teams. Their next, and final, matchup against each other will be on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Hermosillo, Mexico.
