SAN DIEGO (May 8, 2018) – The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers announced today the signing of defender Manuel Rojo for the 2018-19 season. The transaction, which is pending visa approval, was made during the Major Arena Soccer League’s Free Agency signing period which ends May 15. Per league and team policies, details of the agreement were not released.

Rojo comes to San Diego after playing two quality seasons with El Paso (2017-18) and Atletico Baja (2016-17). He is a solid defender and can also provide offensive support. Rojo’s performance in his first season was recognized by the league, as he was named to the 2016-17 All-MASL Rookie Team.

 Sockers General Manager Sean Bowers stated, “Player Personnel Director Chiky Luna is doing another good job in constructing the roster for the upcoming season. With the signing of Manuel Rojo, we have added a player who will be a defensive stalwart for the team for years to come.”
