SOCKERS ROLL IN 9-2 WIN OVER WAVE IN MILWAUKEE

MILWAUKEE, WI - Hopes were high Thursday night at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena as the 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave took the field to face the undefeated San Diego Sockers in Game 1 of the MASL Ron Newman Cup Playoffs.

“This is a tough loss to swallow, especially at home,” said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “The quality in the Sockers finishing ability was just remarkable. Goalkeeper Boris Pardo was lights out. He got to every shot, even the ones we scored on. He had an amazing performance.”

The first Wave goal came in the third quarter from Mario Alvarez to put Milwaukee on the board and Ian Bennett scored late in the fourth quarter on a power play goal.

“Yes, a 9-2 loss looks bad but we feel we can play with San Diego,” added Oliviero. “It doesn't feel hopeless but we need to make our own luck in front of the goal. The guys just need to keep their heads up and in the game.”
