Silver Knights Topple Tropics 6-5

The Silver Knights traveled down to Lakeland for their first contest  of the season with the Florida Tropics. The Tropics got on the board  first thanks to the help of Victor Parreriras. He wasted no time  starting off the game with 2 goals in the first 3:41 of play.

Those  quick goals would give the Silver Knights a much-needed wake up call.  Shortly after, Joey Tavernese struck first for Syracuse, and put the  game within one goal with 9:19 left in the first quarter. That spark was  quickly put out however, following an own goal by Bo Jelovac. But just 8  seconds later, Darren Toby scored on an assist from Slavisa  Ubiparapovic, capping off a high scoring 1st quarter.

The game  slowed down a bit from there, as the only goal of the 2nd quarter came  from Ricardo De Queiroz Diegues, and the Tropics would head to the  locker room up 4-2 at halftime.

Whatever Coach Ryan Hall told his  Silver Knights squad at halftime must have been inspiring, as Syracuse  let loose an all-out assault on the Tropics throughout the entire second  half.

With 10:14 in the 3rd, Joey Tavernese punched in his second  goal of the day. The rest of the game would be the “Kenardo Forbes  Show”, as he would keep his streak of consecutive games with a goal  scored intact. He went off the next 3 goals of the game, earning himself  a hat trick. Lucas Montelares would score with just 9 seconds left in  the 4th quarter, but it ended up worthless. The Silver Knights pull away  from the Tropics 5-4 and improve to 2-3 on the season.

This is  the 5th game in a row for the Silver Knights that ended within 1 goal.  The Topics will seek revenge in the Silver Knights’ next game on  December 9th at the Oncenter War Memorial.
