Sidekicks Pull Off Thriller Overtime Victory Against Tacoma on OpTic HECZ Night

Allen, Texas (February 15, 2024)- The Dallas Sidekicks faced the Tacoma Stars for the first time this season.

The Sidekicks scored the first goal of the game at the 12:13 minute mark with a goal by David Texeira. After this goal, the Sidekicks met up in the middle of the field to honor Carlee Baladez, sister of Bradlee Baladez, who passed away earlier this week. Two minutes later, Sidekicks midfielder, Jamie Lovegrove scored making the score at the end of the first quarter 2-0.

Three minutes into the second quarter, the Sidekicks scored again with a goal by Yahir Romero. Two minutes later, Tacoma found their first goal of the game with the goal by Willie Spurr. The Sidekicks lead diminished slightly because the Stars scored again two minutes later by Jamael Cox. However, a minute later, Texeria scored his second goal of the game. Willie Spurr scored the last goal of the quarter making the score 4-3.

During the third quarter, the Sidekicks added to their lead with a goal by Oscar Romero. Twenty seconds later, the Stars lowered the Sidekicks lead by one when they scored a goal by Nani Mendoza.

In the fourth quarter, the Stars tied up the game for the first time in the game when they scored at the two-minute mark by Sebastian Navarro. Four minutes later, Bradlee Baladez scored, and the Sidekicks honored Carlee again. Sidekicks gained their lead with a goal by Jamie Lovegrove, his second of the game. The Stars then went on a two-goal streak tying up the game again. Jamael Cox scored both goals. At the end of regulation, the score was 7-7. Twenty seconds into overtime, Blas Pérez scored winning the game for the Sidekicks.
