SEVEN DIFFERENT SCORERS FOR COMETS SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN

St. Charles, MO (Feb. 4, 2017) – The Kansas City Comets completed the season sweep against their cross-state rivals, the St Louis Ambush on Saturday night.  Vahid Assadpour, Guerrero Pino and Lucas Rodriguez each had two goals and Assadpour pitched in two assists to the lead the team to their 10-4 victory.

The Comets spent much of the first quarter working the ball around the entire field. Kansas City would take the ball deep into the corners and then bring it all the way back to goalkeeper Stephen Paterson. Midway through the quarter John Sosa and Lucas Rodriguez connected for a textbook restart score from the top of the arc for the only score of the opening quarter.

All the running in the first quarter paid off for the Comets as the Ambush, who played last night in Cedar Rapids, looked worn down in the second quarter. Forty seconds into the period, Guerrero Pino found the back of the net. That score opened the gates as the Comets scored the next eight goals and led 9-1 early in the fourth quarter.

St. Louis elected to play the entire final period with the Sixth Attacker to pressure the Comets defense and try to climb back in it. Victor France scored two goals and Joao Pepe scored another to cut the Comets lead to 9-4 with five minutes to play.

However, Rodriguez was able to get behind the St Louis defense and seal the win with two minutes remaining in the game. With the score 10-4, the Comets were able to hold off the final two minutes and secure their seventh straight win.
