SeaWolves Return Traxler as Head Coach

by Austin David

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 2, 2019) – The Orlando SeaWolves have announced the return of first-ever head coach Tom Traxler, effective immediately.  Traxler led the SeaWolves in their inaugural season and notched signature victories against the Brazilian National Minifootball team, the Milwaukee Wave and four wins over the Florida Tropics, en route to a 9-15 record.

"I'm very excited to return to the Seawolves organization,” Traxler said. “The club, its players, and especially its supporters have a very special place in my heart. I can't wait to rekindle our relationship. I look forward to working alongside Andrew Haines and the staff to help the club continue to grow."

Traxler, a former member of the Tampa Bay Rowdies organization from 1989-1993 and local outdoor coach for the past 25 years, is one of the more recognizable names and faces in the Central Florida Soccer community. His time with Winter Park High School, where he has won multiple titles and is the winningest head coach in program history, is his most notable. Traxler also owns and operates United World Soccer, a premier soccer outlet store in the Florida Mall and has previously served as a broadcaster for Orlando City SC as well as multiple USL Championship matches.

“We’re thrilled to have Tom back with the club,” General Manager Andrew Haines said, “We’re excited to start this new chapter for the SeaWolves organization with Tom at the helm and look forward to the future of the team.”

Traxler will lead the team into their next game on January 10, as they travel to Kansas City to take on the Comets. Kickoff is set for 8:05 p.m. and will be televised on MASL.tv
