OUTLAWS LOSE AT HOME TO THE STARS

MESQUITE, Texas (March 4, 2023) – Mesquite Outlaws lose 5-8 against the Tacoma Stars in Mesquite, Texas at Mesquite Arena.

Nick Perera for the Stars started the goals off for the night with a goal in the seventh minute of the first quarter. A minute later, Cory Keitz scored another goal for the Stars. Axel Chakounte put the Outlaws on the board in the 10th minute, with an assist from Jorge DeLeon. Odaine Sinclair, the newest Outlaw, tied up the game in the 12th minute. Outlaws and Stars tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. Pollo for the Outlaws was issued a blue card in the fourth minute of the second quarter, being replaced in goal by Juan Vences Lujano. Perera scored his second goal of the night during the Stars powerplay. Alan Crespo scored the Stars’ fourth goal of the game in the sixth minute of the second quarter. The half ending with Outlaws not scoring in the second quarter, and down 2-4.

In the third quarter, Alex Caceres put the Stars up by three in the third minute. A blue card was issued to Chase Hanson of the Stars in the 13th minute, for boarding. Pablo Da Silva scored for the Outlaws during the powerplay, with an assist from Luiz Morales. Crespo scored his second goal of the night putting the Stars lead back up by three. Michael Ramos for the Stars scored in the 14th minute, ending the third quarter, Outlaws down 3-7. Outlaws scored in the fourth quarter in the sixth minute, with a goal from Darren Mitchell, Morales having another assist. Eddie Na countered in the 8th minute for the Stars, Outlaws down 8-4. Sebastian Mendez scored during extra attacker for the Outlaws, his 20th goal of the season. In the last two minutes of the game, Pollo was issued a blue card for a handball outside of the box, ultimately being issued a red card for 3 penalties in a game, previously having a blue and yellow card. Perera had a failed attempt in a shootout against Lujano in goal. The Outlaws losing 5-8.

Chakounte, Sinclair, Da Silva, Mitchell, and Mendez, all scored for the Outlaws. Mendez still leading the team with 20 goals in 17 games. The Outlaws are now 10-5-2, and the Stars are now 8-7-1.


The next game for the Outlaws is Saturday, March 11th, against the Dallas Sidekicks at Mesquite Arena in Mesquite, Texas. Kickoff for the game is at 7:05 pm CST.
