OUTLAWS FALL IN OVERTIME TO CHIHUAHUA
CHIHUAHUA, MEX. – Mesquite Outlaws lose 9-10 in overtime against the Chihuahua Savage in Chihuahua, Mexico at Corner Sport Arena.
The first quarter started with a quick goal in the 5th minute by Sebastian Mendez, Outlaws up 1-0. A minute later, Odaine Sinclair added another goal for the Outlaws. Mendez put the Outlaws up 3-0 in the 9th minute of the game. With just 2 minutes left in the quarter, Jose Antonio Medina put the Savage on the board. The first quarter ending with the Outlaws ahead 3-1. In the first minute of the second quarter, Bryan Macias closed the scoring gap to one for the Savage. Arturo Valle tied the game in the 6th minute of the second quarter. Andy Reyes quickly put the Outlaws up once again in the 7th minute. Mendez scored a hat trick goal in the 9th minute, with an assist from Odaine Sinclair. Hugo Puentes scored for the Savage with 12 seconds left in the half. Outlaws up 5-4.
In the third quarter, Roberto Escalante scored for the Savage, once again tying the game. In the 6th minute, Darren Mitchell for the Outlaws received a blue card for contact above the shoulder/elbow, putting the Savage on a power play. Macias scored for the Savage right before the 8th minute, finally putting the Savage in the lead. Mendez tied the game in the 10th minute, scoring his 26th goal of the season. Axel Chakounte took back the lead for the Outlaws when he scored in the 13th minute of the game. Outlaws up 7-6 going into the fourth quarter. In the first minute of the fourth quarter, Puetes tied the game at 7-7 for the Savage. He then scored his hattrick goal in the 5th minute and put the Savage back in a lead. Puentes, still on fire, scored his fourth goal of the match in the 9th minute, putting the Savage ahead by two. Chakounte scored his second goal of the game for the Outlaws in the 12th minute, Outlaws still down 8-9. The game was then tied in the 13th minute, after Isaias Robles scored for the Outlaws, sending the game into overtime.
In the 3rd minute of overtime, Sinclair received a blue card for a handball in the box, putting the Savage on a powerplay, and giving them a penalty kick. The shot was missed, but ultimately in the 5th minute, Edgar Gonzalez scored for the Savage. Outlaws losing 9-10 in overtime.
The Outlaws are now 11-9-3, and the Savage are now 17-6-1. The Outlaws are now with 34 points in the Western Division, making their final game against the Empire a must win to make playoffs.
The next game for the Outlaws is Saturday, April 1st, against the Empire Strykers in Mesquite, Texas at Mesquite Arena. Kick off for that game will be at 7:05 pm CDT. This will be the last regular season game for the Outlaws.
