ORLANDO, Florida (June 6, 2019) – The Orlando SeaWolves continue building the core of their team by bringing back one of the team’s offensive stars from last season with the announcement of a two-year contract, pending visa approval, for Thiago Freitas. Per team and league policies, no further details were disclosed.

Freitas, a native of Brazil, joined the SeaWolves in December of last season after a trade with the Harrisburg Heat. In his two full MASL seasons, he scored 23 goals, adding 41 assists for 64 points. This past year, the 33-year old had one goal and one assist in four games before being traded to Orlando. After joining the SeaWolves, Freitas played in 15 games, scoring a career-high 14 goals, while adding 15 assists, good for third and second on the team respectively.

"Bringing Thiago back was one of our top priorities going into the offseason,” SeaWolves General Manager Chris Kokalis said. “He has proven in his MASL career that he is arguably one of the best playmakers in the league. His willingness to distribute the ball and put his fellow teammates in scoring opportunities shows a level of unselfishness that separates him from other top players in the league".

Freitas’ re-signing marks the fifth player to re-sign with Orlando, joining Osvaldo Rojas, Richard Schmermund, Edwin Rojas and Joshio Sandoval.
