Fury derail the Express as nine players get at least one point
Ontario, California (November 30, 2018) - The Ontario Fury (1-0), Driven by Mark Christopher Auto Center, got five goals from Adrien Perez, three goals from Juan Carlos Gonzalez and a one goal, three assist performance from Tino Nunez as they defeated the Turlock Express (0-1) in front of 2,057 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Opening Night of the Major Arena Soccer League.
Ontario scored early and often racing to a 3-0 lead to start the game. Perez opened the scoring 3:07 into the first quarter on a pass from Nunez. Just over one minute later it was Nunez who scored from an assist by newcomer Andrae Campbell at 4:15. Then it was a Gonzalez goal at 7:01 with another assist from Nunez. After Perez was shown a blue card for tripping at the 10:05 mark, Turlock needed only 37 seconds on the man advantage to score a Power Play goal by Jorge Carmona with Matt Germain on the assist. Perez added one more at 14:05 to give the Fury a 4-1 lead after one quarter of play.
The Fury would then go on to score the next 8 goals in a row, running away with the game 11-1 before Germain added a late goal in the fourth quarter with two minutes remaining on an assist from Manny Villegas. In all, Ontario fired 24 shots on the Turlock goal, with nine different players getting on the score sheet with at least a point.
Fury goalkeeper and the reigning two-time MASL Goalkeeper of the Year, Chris Toth, faced 15 shots, making 13 saves and allowing only 2 goals against.
