ONTARIO FURY USE EIGHT-GOAL BURST TO RUN AWAY FROM COYOTES

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, scored eight unanswered goals over the final three quarters to knock off the expansion El Paso Coyotes 10-4 Saturday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Nick Perera, Leonardo de Oliveira and Chico Francisco Cordiero each scored two goals, as the Fury came back from a 3-2 second quarter deficit against the winless Coyotes (0-8). Daniel Frias scored twice to give the Coyotes the lead after the Fury had taken a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter.

But Andy Reyes scored on the power play with 4:05 remaining in the second quarter, sending the teams to the locker room tied at three.  Another power play goal, this time from de Oliveira, 7:18 into the third quarter broke the tie, and sent the Fury on its way in the game. Cordiero’s unassisted goal 1:24 later made it 5-3, and the rout was on.

Ontario was 3-for-4 on the power play in the game, with the final power play coming in the final minute of the game, as Ontario ran the clock out. De Oliveira added two assists to his two goals, Perera had an assist and Mauricio Salles had a goal and two assists.

The Fury auctioned off their special Casa Colina teal jerseys after the game, raising $5,025 for Casa Colina Hospital and Healthcare Centers.
