ONTARIO FURY COMPLETES TEXAS TWO-STEP WITH 10-8 WIN OVER DALLAS

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, got four goals from Leonardo de Oliveira as they won their third game in a row, beating the Dallas Sidekicks 10-8 Saturday night at the Allen Events Center in Allen, Texas.

Ontario also got two goals and two assists from Jinho Kim, as the Fury completed a two-game, two-night sweep of opponents from Texas. The Fury defeated the El Paso Coyotes 6-5 Friday night at the El Paso County Coliseum.

The victory pushed Ontario a half-game ahead of the Tacoma Stars for second place – and final playoff spot – from the Pacific Division. Ontario will complete a three-game-in-three-day road trip Sunday against the Chicago Mustangs at the Allstate Centre. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Pacific and can be viewed at the MASL TV channel on YouTube.com.

After a scoreless first period, the Fury took the lead for good as Kim scored the first of his two goals in the game with 3:32 to go in the second quarter, giving Ontario a 3-2 lead that it would build to 4-3 at halftime.

In the second half, the Fury expanded its lead, never allowing the Sidekicks back into the game. Ontario led by four goals, at 10-6, with the Fury scoring twice against the sixth attacker. Dallas scored twice with the sixth attacker in the final two minutes.

Maicon de Abreu had two goals and one assist, while “Chico” Francisco Cordiero had a goal and two assists in the win. Cody Ellis had four assists and Jaime Lovegrove and Nestor Hernandez had two goals each for the Sidekicks, which finished its season with a 7-13 record.

Ontario moves onto Chicago for Sunday’s 1 p.m. game. The Fury will finish the season at 7 p.m. Friday against the Turlock Express at Turlock Indoor Soccer. Both games will be key for the Fury’s playoff chances, as two more Fury wins will clinch the final playoff spot. A loss in either game will require a loss by the Tacoma Stars against the San Diego Sockers next Saturday night.

Should the Fury advance to the playoffs, Ontario will host Game 2 of the Pacific Division series against the San Diego Sockers at 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Game 1 of the series will be at 5 p.m. March 12 at San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center. Tickets on sale date will be announced at a later date.
