MISSISSAUGA METROSTARS SIGN FORMER TORONTO FC FORWARD MO BABOULI

MASL team announces 36-player squad to begin pre-season training camp next Tuesday

MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Mississauga MetroStars today confirmed the signing of a highly touted Canadian player to their roster as the expansion club continues to prepare for its inaugural season in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). The club announced it has reached an agreement with forward Molham (Mo) Babouli for the 2018/19 season. As per league and team policies, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Babouli, 25, joins the MetroStars after one season with Al-Ittihad in the Syrian Premier League. Mo played most of his youth soccer in Mississauga with Dixie Soccer Club before joining the Toronto FC Academy in 2014. Babouli helped the senior Academy team to the League 1 Ontario title, leading the league in scoring with 26 goals. He moved on to play for TFC II of the USL in 2015 before signing the following season with Toronto FC where he made 20 appearances across all competitions. Babouli also represented Canada’s U23 side at the 2015 Pan American Games.

"I'm looking forward to joining the MetroStars", said Babouli. "I think we have a lot of quality in the core group of players and we'll just need to turn that quality into results."

"Mo is a prolific goalscorer," said MetroStars Head Coach and GM Phil Ionadi. "We're excited to have someone of that pedigree join us. He can come in and be an impact player in this league and we're proud of the fact that he is a product of the Mississauga youth system."

The MetroStars also announced they have invited a total of 36 players to pre-season training camp, which opens next Tuesday, November 6, at the Canlan Sportsplex in Mississauga. Ionadi selected 22 players from the two-day open tryout sessions held the weekend of October 20-21 to take part in the upcoming training camp
