MISSISSAUGA METROSTARS HOLD ON TO BEAT HEAT FOR SECOND HOME WIN

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO – The Mississauga MetroStars conceded two early goals but fought back with six of their own in the first half alone to register their second win of the MASL season, a 7-6 defeat of Eastern Division rivals Harrisburg Heat Sunday afternoon at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Following first quarter strikes from the Heat’s Daniel Villela and Pat Thompson, Mo Babouli put the MetroStars on the board, scoring his sixth goal of the season on a beautiful solo effort with just 1:16 to play. Then less than 30 seconds later, Damion Graham tied it for the home side with his fourth of the year.

The Heat jumped out in front again early in the second quarter through Julian Escobar but the MetroStars then struck for three straight goals, including a terrific left foot shot from beyond the yellow line from Joshua Paredes, to take a 5-3 lead. The two teams traded goals late in the quarter and Mississauga led 6-4 at halftime.

Dwayne De Rosario scored his fifth of the season in the third quarter to extend the MetroStars lead but fourth quarter goals from Villela, with his second of the game, and William Eskay cut the Heat deficit to just one goal. Despite using a sixth attacker in the late going, the Heat couldn’t find an equaliser and the MetroStars earned their second home win of the season to kick off a four game homestand that stretches to January 11.

The MetroStars will return to action Thursday January 3 at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, where they will host Eastern Division rivals Baltimore Blast with kickoff set for 7:35pm (ET).
