MetroStars Romp to Victory in Home Opener

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada – (Dec. 8, 2018) - Mississauga native Mo Babouli netted a hattrick to lead the Mississauga MetroStars to a resounding 10-0 victory over an undermanned Florida Tropics side Saturday afternoon at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre. It was an impressive rebound for the MetroStars following an 11-3 defeat to the Blast in Baltimore in the season opener last week.

Babouli opened the scoring at the 13:38 mark of the first quarter, then doubled his tally just over a minute into the second quarter. Babouli completed his three-goal performance with the tenth and final goal of the match at 14:42 of the fourth quarter. Babouli added two assists on the day to give him five points in the game.

Martinho Dumevski added a pair for the MetroStars with goals either side of the halftime break. Meanwhile Dwayne De Rosario added his third goal of the season just 47 seconds into the fourth quarter. De Rosario also contributed three assists.

Alen Kucalovic, Sebastian Lopez, Lerohne Young and ex-Tropics midfielder Marco Rodriguez rounded out the scoring for the MetroStars. Adrian Becic earned the shutout, making 13 saves.

The MetroStars continue their mini homestand Thursday, when they entertain the Kansas City Comets at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre with kickoff set for 7:35pm (ET).
