Mesquite Outlaws lose 2-13 against the Flash in Monterrey
MONTERREY, MX. – The first quarter started with a goal from the Flash, scored by Erick Tovar in the third minute. Sebastian Mendez scored to tie the game for the Outlaws a minute later. Alvaro Bocanegra scored another goal for the Flash in the fifth minute of the first quarter. Emmanuel Aguirre for the Outlaws received a blue card for boarding, but ultimately the penalty was killed. The Flash scored again in the 10th minute, with a goal from Alexis Espinosa. A final dagger for the Outlaws in the first quarter came when Luis Genaro Castillo scored with 7 seconds left in the quarter, putting the Outlaws down 1-4. Bocanegra scored his second goal of the game five minutes into the second quarter. Outlaws countered with a goal 40 seconds later, scored by David Ortiz. Mendoza scored his second goal of the game for the Flash a little over three minutes left in the half. The half ended with the Outlaws down 2-6.
In the third quarter, Erick Rosas scored for the Flash 7 seconds in. A minute later, Daniel Villela scored putting the flash up 8-2. In the fourth minute, Sebastian Mendez for the Outlaws was issued a blue card for tripping. A few seconds later, Castillo scored his second goal for the Flash. A blue card was issued to Flash player Hector Vallejo for handling in the ninth minute. Rosas scored his second goal for the Flash in with almost a minute left in the third quarter. The quarter ending with the Outlaws still being down 2-10. Three minutes into the fourth quarter, Tovar scored for the Flash, his second of the night. Mendez for the Outlaws was issued his second blue card of the night in the fourth minute for contact above the shoulder. Edgar Flores scored for the Flash 10 seconds after the penalty was issued to Mendez. Castillo scored his hattrick goal in the tenth minute of the fourth quarter. Outlaws scoring no goals in the second half, and the game ending with the Outlaws losing 2-13.
Sebastian Mendez and David Ortiz both scored the only two goals for the Outlaws. Mendez still leading the team in goals with 19 goals in 16 games. The Outlaws are now 10-4-2, and the Flash are now 8-6-2.
The next game for the Outlaws is Saturday, March 4th, against the Tacoma Stars at Mesquite Arena in Mesquite, Texas. Kickoff for the game is at 7:05 pm CST.
