MASL WEEK FOURTEEN PREVIEW

KANSAS CITY (Jan. 27, 2016) – The second half of the season is heating up. This weekend could see the first team punch their ticket to the postseason while other teams face do-or-die battles just to remain in contention. Each game this weekend can be found on the MASL’s streaming home, MASLtv.

Harrisburg Heat vs Syracuse Silver Knights – Friday, January 27th 7:35 p.m. ET
The Harrisburg Heat and Syracuse Silver Knights are separated by 1.5 games in the Eastern Division and both teams made moves this week as they try to hold onto their playoff hopes. Harrisburg signed veteran Carlos “Chile” Farias to provide leadership and extra firepower down the stretch. Syracuse moved Bryan O’Quinn from behind the bench to the field as the team’s goalkeeper. Ryan Hall was named Head Coach with the move.

Florida Tropics vs Kansas City Comets – Friday, January 27th 7:35 p.m. ET
Both teams come into this game on hot streaks. The Comets have won five in a row, while the Tropics have three straight wins. Both teams are missing star players tonight. Kansas City’s Leo Gibson and Florida’s Piotr Sliwa are both sitting out due to card accumulations. Florida debuts Marcel Feenstra in goal tonight, while the Comets will rely on players like Vahid Assadpour, Bryan Perez and Ramone Palmer to fill the void left from Gibson.

Ontario Fury vs Dallas Sidekicks – Friday, January 27th 10:05 p.m. ET
Both of these teams are sitting third in their respective divisions but could start to climb back into playoff position with a win tonight. Dallas’ Cameron Brown has scored in 25 straight games, a Sidekicks franchise record that continues to grow with every game this season.

Turlock Express vs Atletico Baja – Friday, January 27th 10:05 p.m. ET
Turlock returns home for the first time since early January and hopes to return to a winning streak. With only six games remaining, each one is vital to the Express’ playoff hopes. Atletico Baja had a disappointing result last weekend, but is holding onto the second position in the Southwest Division. To remain there, they will need to improve their road record.

Harrisburg Heat vs Chicago Mustangs – Saturday, January 28th 7:05 p.m. ET
The Heat play their second match in two days, this time hosting the Chicago Mustangs. These two teams played each other last week with Harrisburg getting the victory on the road. Chicago’s Taylor Bond was named to the MASL Team of the Week after scoring five goals last weekend, including the final four against Kansas City.

Soles de Sonora vs Tacoma Stars – Saturday, January 28th 9:05 p.m. ET
Sonora could be the first team to clinch a playoff spot this week. A Soles win coupled with a Baja loss on Friday night secures them a postseason spot. Tacoma is a half-game ahead of San Diego for the lead in the Pacific Division. In a race that could go down to the final game of the season, they need to keep their 5 game winning streak going in Mexico

Syracuse Silver Knights vs Chicago Mustangs – Sunday, January 29th 1:00 p.m. ET
Chicago continues their East Coast weekend in Syracuse. When these two met in December Syracuse jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Chicago chipped away at the lead and finally pulled ahead with an eight-goal 4th quarter.

Milwaukee Wave vs Cedar Rapids Rampage – Sunday, January 29th 3:05 p.m. ET
This matchup features two of the league’s top teams in a heated battle for Central Division dominance. Only one game separates Milwaukee from division leading Cedar Rapids and Kansas City. After a slow start to their season, the Wave are playing at their best now. They have won five straight and have won eight of their last ten. The Rampage have won their last two games against the Wave and hope to complete the season sweep.

Baltimore Blast vs St Louis Ambush – Sunday, January 29th 4:05 p.m. ET
Last season’s defending champions had a rough trip through the Midwest last weekend and hopes to right the ship at home against the Ambush. Richard Schmermund leads the Ambush with nine goals while Tony Donatelli leads the Blast with 16.

Atletico Baja vs Tacoma Stars – Sunday, January 29th 8:05 p.m. ET
Week 14 ends with Baja hosting the Stars on Sunday evening. These two met in early December with Baja winning 9-4 at home. Since then, the Stars have five straight wins and hold the top spot in the Pacific Division.
