KANSAS CITY (Jan. 17, 2017) – The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) entered the back half of the regular season schedule with some great performances.  The league announced the Week 12 Team of the Week this afternoon.

The MASL Team of the Week is selected using the Stars awarded at each game and by soliciting nominations from each team. Players nominated by teams were each awarded three points and stars were awarded 3 points (1st Star), 2 points (2nd star) and 1 Point (3rd star) respectively.

Goalkeeper:
Danny Waltman (Tacoma Stars)
– In one of the most exciting games of the weekend, Waltman stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced in regulation. He only allowed two goals and made a couple crucial stops in the shootout to win the game.

Defender:
Alain Matingou (Kansas City Comets)
– The French national scored his first career hat trick against the San Diego Sockers last Saturday. His third goal was the most crucial as it proved to be the game winner with only 21.4 seconds remaining in the game.

Midfielders:
Douglas Dos Santos (Chicago Mustangs)
– Even though his team lost to the Milwaukee Wave, dos Santos did his best to keep his team within striking distance. He scored three goals, one assist and a block and was named the First Star of the game.
Daniel Lopez (Soles de Sonora) – Lopez had two goals and two assists against their Southwest Division rival, Atletico Baja. He was a crucial part of the team’s big win.

Forwards:
Franck Tayou (Soles de Sonora)
– Tayou has scored multiple goals in every game but one this season. On Saturday, against Atletico Baja, he scored 5 goals and an assist. He now leads the league in points (45) and goals (36).
VcMor Eligwe (Dallas Sidekicks) – Eligwe scored three goals (all in the second half) and an assist as he helped lead his team to a dominating win over the Turlock Express.
