MASL TEAM OF THE WEEK

KANSAS CITY (December 6, 2017) – Fourteen games were played this past weekend, with plenty of action in each. These players stood out among their peers this week and have been named to the Week Six Team of the Week!

The MASL Team of the Week is selected using the Stars awarded at each game and by soliciting nominations from each team. Players nominated by teams were each awarded three points and stars were awarded 3 points (1st Star), 2 points (2nd star) and 1 Point (3rd star) respectively.

GOALKEEPER:

Chris Toth (San Diego Sockers) – The San Diego Sockers had some great matches against Soles de Sonora last season, ultimately falling to them in the 2017 Ron Newman Cup Conference Finals. Toth led the Sockers to a win on Sunday against Sonora in their first match of this season, only allowing 5 goals to their high-powered offense.

DEFENSE:

Lucio Gonzaga (Harrisburg Heat) – Gonzaga and the Heat had two important matches this weekend. The veteran defense helped to lead his team to a weekend split, scoring five goals and two assists along the way.

MIDFIELD:

Tony Donatelli (Baltimore Blast) – Donatelli has felt right at home in the Blast’s new arena. He has helped to keep his team undefeated at the SECU Arena, with a hat trick on Friday and two more goals on Saturday

Kenardo Forbes (Syracuse Silver Knights) – It may be early in the season still, but the Eastern Division race is already hot. With his team down late in the third quarter, Forbes scored three straight goals to lead his team to a 6-5 road victory.

FORWARD:

Ivan Campos (Turlock Express) – Campos had a seven-point weekend in two games for the Express. On Saturday he scored a goal and an assist against El Paso, then Sunday led all scorers with four goals and an assist.

Victor France (Cedar Rapids Rampage) – Although he doesn’t play there regularly, France feels right at home in Kansas City’s Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. He started the season off there with St. Louis, then returned there on Sunday evening with his new team, the Rampage. His first half hat-trick helped the team to an important overtime win.
