MASL NOVEMBER AWARDS

KANSAS CITY (Dec 1, 2016) – The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the creation of monthly awards for the best goalkeeper, player and coach. The inaugural winners for November are Danny Waltman (Tacoma Stars), Gordy Gurson (Cedar Rapids Rampage) and Armando Gamboa (Chicago Mustangs).

Goalkeeper of the Month – Danny Waltman (Tacoma Stars)
Waltman hasn’t slowed down at all since bringing home the Goalkeeper of the Year award last season. He ranks in the Top 10 of virtually every statistical category and is one of only three goalkeepers with four wins so far this season. He has been a big part of the Stars success, but never more so than against the Dallas Sidekicks on November 18th. The veteran made a diving save on a Penalty Kick in overtime, then followed that up by forcing two of three Dallas players to miss on the Shootout to win the game.

Player of the Month – Gordy Gurson (Cedar Rapids Rampage)
The Cedar Rapids Rampage have started this season with first-time wins against the Kansas City Comets and the Milwaukee Wave. Team captain Gurson has led the way for the Rampage. His ten points, including five assists, leads all Cedar Rapids scorers. His play has earned him Team of the Week honors three times in November and he was the fan choice for Week One Player of the Week.

Coach of the Month – Armando Gamboa (Chicago Mustangs)
Gamboa has his Mustangs running wild over the Central Division this season. He commands the only unbeaten team remaining in the MASL at 4-0. They have swept back-to-back, home-and-home series against Cedar Rapids and the St. Louis Ambush. He heads into December with a game and a half lead over the Rampage, and a two game advantage over the Kansas City Comets, the two-time defending champion of the Central Division.
