MASL MEETINGS CONCLUDE WITH OPTIMISM
The Major Arena Soccer League’s member’s meetings in Baltimore, MD concluded Tuesday with a sense of optimism and focus.
Member’s meetings are held monthly throughout the year but once or twice a year member’s convene in person to collaborate, network and establish direction for the coming months and years.
The meetings kicked off with an opening address by Commissioner Keith Tozer and President of Media and Broadcast JP Dellacamera highlighting the successes of the 2025-26 season. Talking points included staggering gains in viewership on social media and broadcasts, increased competition level, new expansion and more. They also took the opportunity to formally welcome Sacramento and Lehigh Valley as members, while allowing them to share a few words.
Jeff Burum, MASL president of the executive board then provided a message centered around “Momentum – Action – Structure – Legacy” as guiding principles in advancing the MASL.
A committee was established to focus on expansion by building pods around existing MASL members. This model would build more rivalries and travel partners for member clubs.
A second committee was established to focus on corporate partnerships and marketing with all members engaged on a shared goal.
The members unanimously passed a motion to increase the referee budget with a focus on retention, training and compensation comparable to NCAA, FIFA, USL – where MASL referees are also working.
The schedule and playoff format were also discussed with additional details to follow.
The success of league initiatives like Play with Heart were discussed with expansion plans for the 2026-27 season. A second month long initiative was presented with excitement from the group – details will be shared at a later date.
With an eye on continued growth and expansion a huge decision was reached that will be shared later today!
