MASL ANNOUNCES REFEREE ASSIGNMENTS FOR RON NEWMAN CUP FINALS

In preparation for the Ron Newman Cup Finals between the San Diego Sockers and Florida Tropics, the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the referees for the series.

Game One on Monday, May 2 in Lakeland, Fla. will be officiated by Ryan Cigich and Josh Wilkens. Cigich, the MASL head of officials will be working his eighth Championship in his twenty-third season. This will be Wilkens first Championship appearance in his seventh season of professional indoor soccer. Wilkens is a FIFA Futsal Referee and was appointed to the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup.  They will be assisted by Kermit Quisenberry and Jamie Willis.

Game Two on Sunday, May 8 in San Diego, Calif. will be officiated by Shane Butler and Mark Kadlecik. This will be Butler’s seventh Championship appearance; the former FIFA Futsal Referee is in his nineteenth season of professional arena soccer. This will be Kadlecik’s first Championship appearance in his eleventh season of professional indoor soccer. They will be assisted by Bryan Elliott and Arnold Baldeaux. 

“Being selected to referee in a Championship game in any sport is an honor and the same holds true in the MASL," said Commissioner Keith Tozer. "Congratulations to all our referees who were selected by the coaches and executives from around the league as it is a great responsibility for them to be at the top of their game and they are all prepared for the challenge.”
