MASL ANNOUNCES EARL FOREMAN AWARD WINNERS PLUS INAUGURAL ED TEPPER HUMANITARIAN AWARD

KANSAS CITY (April 24, 2018) – The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced the winners for two more Earl Foreman awards this afternoon, plus the creation of the Ed Tepper Humanitarian Award. The Monterrey Flash added more hardware to their trophy case as the winners of the Earl Foreman award for best Game Day Presentation, while the Milwaukee Wave earned the Best Promotions trophy for the second straight year.

The Monterrey Flash created one of the greatest home field advantages in the league this year. From the very moment fans enter Arena Monterrey the energy and excitement of arena soccer is felt. From the player introductions to Chily Wily leading chants, game days in Monterrey are always great events.

The Milwaukee Wave increased their average attendance and led the entire MASL in total attendance in 2017-2018. To do it they once again branded each one of their games with a new promotion or theme. Everyone got in on the theme night action, from players wearing Spongebob Squarepants jerseys for Nickelodeon Night to PA Announcer Van McNeil dressed like the King of Pop for Michael Jackson tribute night. Each game was promoted with a customized and targeted social media campaign to maximize coverage and reach large audiences.

The MASL also announced the winner for a new award this season, the Ed Tepper Humanitarian Award. The winner of this award shows selfless care for his community with his actions off the field and away from the spotlight.

The inaugural winner is Leo Gibson of the Kansas City Comets. Gibson runs the ‘Kick for Christ’ charity and is dedicated to helping improve the lives of those in need, both in Kansas City and in his home country of Liberia. Gibson works with KC area professional athletes and local volunteers to collect gently used sporting and athletic equipment which he then distributes to kids who could not normally afford them on their own. Each year he also coordinates a trip to Liberia where he distributes more equipment, along with everyday essentials to those in need.
