KANSAS CITY COMETS SIGN NACHO FLORES TO EXTENSION

Talented defender extends contract through 2019-2020 season

KANSAS CITY (July 30, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets announced today a contract extension for Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Flores through the 2019-2020 season, pending visa approval. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“I am so happy to be part of the Comets,” said Flores. “After my first year I really got a good feeling for how this game is played and I think it showed last season. Now I’m ready to take the next step and be successful here in Kansas City.”

The 2018-2019 season will be the third season for Flores. The former Park University Pirate has appeared in every game since joining the Comets for the 2016-2017 season. He had a modest rookie campaign with five goals and six assists in 20 games, but really stepped up last season.

His sophomore season saw Flores score 16 goals, 19 assists and 35 points. He was named to the Week Three Team of the Week and was named All-MASL Honorable Mention.

Head Coach Kim Roentved is glad to keep Flores in a Kansas City uniform.

“He’s an exciting player, but more than that I think the game is starting to slow down for him and he is going to be getting better every season. We’re expecting big things from him and I’m glad he’s going to be sticking around.”

The Kansas City Comets will open their 12-game home schedule at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on December 15th. The opponent and the rest of the schedule will be announced this fall.

Season Tickets are available now and single game and group tickets will be available soon. For more information about the Kansas City Comets, be sure to follow the team on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or check out KCComets.com
