JOHN SOSA RETURNS TO KANSAS CITY

Defender returns to Comets after one season in San Diego

KANSAS CITY (Oct. 11, 2018) – The  Kansas City Comets announced today that defender John Sosa has signed a  three-year contract with the club. Per team and league policies, terms  of the agreement were not disclosed.

Sosa, 29, originally signed  with the Comets prior to the 2011-2012 season. He immediately found  success on the Comets backline, playing in all 24 games his rookie  season. The University of Missouri-Kansas City alumni has appeared in  148 games career games, 129 of them with the Comets.

“We are very  happy to have Sosa back this year,” said Head Coach Kim Roentved. “From  the moment he signed with San Diego last year, we have been working on  bringing him home. His leadership on our backline will be a huge boost  to our team.”

In his seven-year career, Sosa has averaged 15  blocks, 8 goals and nearly 20 assists. As part of the 2014 MISL  Championship team, he scored 13 goals and had 20 assists and was third  on the team with 11 blocks.

In an interview with Comets  play-by-play announcer Nick Vasos, Sosa said “I love the franchise, I  love the people here, I love the teammates…I’m very excited to be back.  I’m looking forward to it and being back in the city where I live and  the people that I know.”

John Sosa and the Kansas City Comets will  open their 12-game home schedule against the Milwaukee Wave at the  Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on December 15th at 7:05 p.m. CT. The full  24-game schedule is available now at KCComets.com.
