Gonzaga’s Hat Trick Propels Heat Past the Tropics

Harrisburg, PA (Nov. 25, 2016)  -- Lucio Gonzaga scored three 2nd period goals to help the Harrisburg Heat knock off visiting Florida Tropics 7-4. After being held scoreless in the 1st period, the Heat scored six goals in the 2nd period to erase a 2-0 deficit. 

Marco Rodriguez scored the first goal of the game for the Tropics just four minutes into action. The game was without a goal until the end of the 1st. Ricardo De Queiroz Diegues scored the Tropics second goal of the match with two minutes remaining in the 1st

Nine seconds into the 2nd period, Gonzaga cut Florida’s lead in half by scoring the Heat’s first goal of the game. Harrisburg knotted things up just three minutes later on a goal by Thiago Freitas. 30 seconds later, Gonzaga scored his second goal of the game by scoring on a free kick at the top of the box.  Midway through the period, the Tropics tied the game on a goal by Victor Rojas. With two minutes left in the half, Gonzaga  sealed his hat trick on a penalty shot that just squeezed by Tropics keeper Piotr Sliwa. Jose Luiz Birche de Souza and Stephen Basso also scored for the Heat in the 2nd period.

Harrisburg  scored their seventh goal of the game early in the 3rd period when Freitas found the back of the net for the second time. Florida added their fourth and final score late into the 4th period on a goal by Tropics captain Freddy Moojen.  Heat goalie Hugo Da Silva was excellent in the net registering 20 saves on the night. Sliwa had 10 saves for the Tropics. Florida outshot the Heat 26 shots on goal to 20.
