FURY TRIO TIP HATS IN 13-4 SEASON OPENING VICTORY

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, got three goals apiece from Tino Nunez, Mauricio Salles and Tiguinho as they beat Atletico Baja 13-4 in the Major Arena Soccer League opener for both teams Sunday at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Nunez totaled five points on the night, adding two first half assists as the Fury rushed out to a 6-2 halftime lead, and then a 9-2 lead after three quarters. He completed his hat trick with 28 seconds left in the game, as Ontario kept the pressure on throughout.

The Fury’s defense, meanwhile, held back the Baja attack. Ontario blocked 10 shots in the game, and only allowed nine to reach goaltender Joey Kapinos. 

Besides the goal scorers, the Fury’s attack was spread out among the team, as 10 of the Fury’s 14 field players registered at least one point in the game. Nick Perera had a goal and two assists, Israel Sesay had three assists, while Andy Reyes had a goal and assist and Jinho Kim had two helpers. 

Ontario heads out on the road for its next two games, taking on Sonora on Nov. 5 and Tacoma on Nov. 12 before returning home Nov. 25 to take on the Turlock Express at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
