FURY SLOW DOWN EXPRESS

Turlock, CA (Jan. 6, 2017) - The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, used a stifling defense to grind out an important 5-3 victory over the Turlock Express on Friday at Turlock Indoor Soccer.

Mauricio Salles and Chico Francisco each scored twice for the Fury, who moved back to .500 on the season at 4-4. In the process, they handed the Express (4-7) their first home loss of the season.

Nick Perera scored against the sixth attacker with 1:30 to go to ice the victory. Joey Kapinos was credited with 19 saves in the game, as the Fury posted a season low in goals allowed.

Ontario led 2-0 at halftime, as both Salles and Francisco posted goals in the opening 30 minutes. But the Express came out firing in the second half, tying the game with two goals in the opening 4:51.

But Francisco’s second goal gave Ontario a 3-2 lead after three, and after Adrian Gutierrez tied the game, Salles got the game winner with 5:54 to go.

Ontario now travels back to Southern California for a 5 p.m. matchup with the San Diego Sockers at Valley View Casino Center. The game will be a rematch of last week’s meeting between the two teams at Citizens Business Bank Arena, where San Diego scored the final five goals for a 10-6 victory.
