FURY RALLY IN SECOND HALF FOR OVERTIME VICTORY

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to beat the Syracuse Silver Knights 7-6 in overtime Friday night at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, N.Y.

Douglas Lima scored the game-winner with 4:09 to go, blasting a shot from the right side past Syracuse goaltender Andrew Coughlin to give the Fury (2-0) the victory. It was Lima’s second goal of the game, and his fourth on the year.

The Fury were down 2-0 after one quarter, and 4-1 in the second quarter before climbing their way back into the game. Tino Nunez scored unassisted with 4:01 remaining in the second quarter to make it 4-2 at the half.

Ontario scored first in the second half, as Corey Maret tapped home a long through ball from Thiago Concalves to make it 4-3. After Nate Bourdeau’s goal gave the Silver Knights its two-goal lead back, the Fury scored twice more – with 1:04 of each other – as Leonardo de Oliveira and Lima each scored, sending the game to the fourth quarter tied at 5.

Kenardo Forbes gave Syracuse (1-2) the lead one minute into the fourth, but Arturo Alanis scored with 8:02 remaining to tie the game. Ontario had to kill a power play at the end of regulation that carried into overtime, as the defense was able to keep the Silver Knights at bay.

Coughlin was solid for the Silver Knights in net, making 15 saves as the Fury outshot Syracuse 22-17. Rookie Jose Miranda got the win for Ontario, making 11 saves.

 The Fury head out for Harrisburg, Penn., tonight, as they will take on the Harrisburg Heat at 4 p.m. PT Saturday. The game will be available for viewing online at MASL.tv
